As part of the response to food insecurity, faculty members from the IPORA consortium’s working group on food systems and food security in Côte d’Ivoire met in Abidjan from January 29 to 31, 2025, to discuss and identify research projects that could guide decision-making on nutrition.
The IPORA consortium—or Interdisciplinary Policy-Oriented Research on Africa—is, according to Dr. Gérard Menan, Deputy Coordinator of IPORA Côte d’Ivoire, a real opportunity for Côte d’Ivoire, as it brings together diverse expertise to address specific issues related to the well-being of populations, particularly food security.
Three identified themes will be the focus of research projects. They are:
- Supplying cities with safe food
- Security dynamics in cocoa-growing communities in Côte d’Ivoire
- Maternal mental health in relation to child nutrition
The work carried out during this meeting led to the development of tools for supplying communities with nutritious food, with the aim of improving existing food security policies.
