Mereva, a Franco-Ivorian team of engineers, administrative managers, and technicians, has been helping European and African researchers implement biomedical research projects in 31 countries for the past 10 years. Mereva is part of the long-standing partnership between the GHiGS team, Inserm Bordeaux, and the Pacci Abidjan Program, and comprises four areas of activity: Project Management, Statistics, Monitoring, and IT.
Members of the Mereva IT Division met for three days, from January 25 to 27, 2023, in Côte d’Ivoire, for their 5th IT Seminar, to collectively evaluate the work and activities of past years, the unit’s service catalog, its communication and operational methods, and its strengths and weaknesses.
The 2023 seminar began with a roundtable discussion titled “Personal Data Protection — Regulations, Recommendations, and Implementation in the Global South,” which led to the formation of a working group tasked with addressing the lack of regulations tailored to Mereva contexts and jointly defining a “Global South” Reference Methodology by bringing together the perspectives of various stakeholders, from participants all the way up to the Ivorian Regulatory Authority.
