"Subject: Renewal of the Franco-Ivorian scientific partnership around the PAC-CI Program and signing ceremony in January 2023"
On the occasion of his visit to Côte d’Ivoire in April 2022, the Director of ANRS-MIE (French National Agency for Research on AIDS and Emerging Infectious Diseases), Mr. Yazdan Yazdanpana, met with Côte d’Ivoire’s Ministers in charge of Health and Research to discuss the PAC-CI Program and the outlook for this partnership, which has brought together French and Ivorian research stakeholders for more than 30 years and produces excellent results every year in HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, viral hepatitis, Ebola, and COVID-19 research. Thanks to its national and international scope, this program positions Côte d’Ivoire and France jointly as leaders in research on HIV/AIDS and other highly epidemic infectious diseases.
During this meeting, they agreed to renew the agreement governing this partnership to optimize its operations and enable it to adapt to the new challenges posed by emerging diseases. After taking the time to flesh out these goals, ANRS-MIE drafted a proposed text for this agreement, incorporating all the elements discussed. PAC-CI and ANRS-MIE are organizing scientific meetings on January 23 and 24, 2023. These meetings, held every two years for the past 20 years, are open to a wide range of health and research stakeholders, public health institution members, and civil society representatives. Attending this event will be ANRS-MIE Director Mr. Yazdan Yazdanpana, IRD (French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development) CEO Ms. Valérie Verdier, INSERM (French National Institute of Health and Medical Research) President Mr. Gilles Bloch, and University of Bordeaux President Mr. Dean Lewis.
This event, both scientific and strategic, will provide an overview of and outlook for Franco-Ivorian research and will also formalize the renewal of the Franco-Ivorian scientific partnership and the signing of this new agreement in the presence of all stakeholders.
