From August 4 to 6, 2026, in Grand-Bassam, the PAC-CI Program organized the first workshop to strengthen collaboration among stakeholders in the fight against dengue as part of the DengueCARE project’s activities.
Led by Dr. Badjé Anani, principal investigator, and Dr. Abo Yao, project manager, this meeting brought together 33 participants representing 20 organizations from the health, research, environment, and climate sectors, local governments, community health, as well as technical and financial partners.
The workshop aimed to lay the groundwork for effective collaboration among stakeholders involved in the response to dengue and other arboviral diseases in Côte d’Ivoire. It aligns with the DengueCARE project’s objectives to promote an integrated, sustainable, and multisectoral approach to combating dengue in the context of climate change.
The workshop began with presentations by the various organizations involved in combating dengue and other arboviral diseases. These presentations provided an opportunity to share existing initiatives, identify the main challenges and needs of stakeholders, and discuss ways to collaborate.
The workshop then continued with group discussions focused on the following five themes:
- integrated dengue-climate-vector surveillance;
- vector control and climate resilience;
- community engagement and communication;
- research and knowledge generation;
- governance and the operation of the DengueCARE collaborative platform.
Following the discussions, participants adopted a preliminary roadmap and defined the operational guidelines for the future platform. This platform is expected to strengthen national coordination among the various stakeholders and contribute to a more effective response to dengue epidemics in the context of climate change.
A Platform to Bring Together Expertise
The workshop marks the first step in establishing the DengueCARE collaborative platform, designed to foster networking among stakeholders and the sharing of knowledge and expertise.
Through this initiative, PAC-CI and its partners will continue their commitment to collaborative research and a coordinated response to dengue-related challenges in Côte d’Ivoire.
