An evaluation serves first and foremost to measure the gaps between the project and its implementation. That is its primary and essential objective. However, it also serves to prepare for the next steps and future actions. To best assess the impact of the PROXISANTE project on the beneficiary populations, preliminary preparations involving all stakeholders are necessary.
It was in this context that a team from the PAC-CI Program, led by Dr. Komena Auguste Eric, Acting Project Manager for PROXISANTE, visited the Toumodi department from September 11 to 13, 2024, to verify the availability and compliance of procedural documents and to engage with the target populations.
This field mission unfolded in three stages: first, a courtesy call on the Departmental Director of Health, a presentation of the mission objectives, and an initial working session aimed at developing a schedule for site visits, on the one hand, and second, to draft the message for Community Health Workers (CHWs) so that they could best prepare the sites and the patients benefiting from the project.
Next, a second working session was held with the leaders of the NGO EPE. This provided an opportunity for the stakeholders to review the various activity reports and the challenges encountered during the project’s implementation, to evaluate the solutions implemented to address those challenges, and to list recommendations for the PAC-CI Program.
Finally, the mission concluded with a visit to the doctors and working sessions with the Community Health Workers (CHWs) at the Kokoumbo and Kpouebo Community Health Centers (CHCs). More specifically, these meetings focused on evaluating the household enumeration process, data collection and management, the facilitation of focus group discussions, the technical assistance provided to them by supervising nurses, the health district, the PAC-CI Program, and various national programs, as well as the challenges encountered during the project,
As a reminder, the main objective of the PROXISANTE project is to develop and implement strategies aimed at improving the integration of HIV, malaria, and tuberculosis prevention and care into the community-level health system through Community Health Workers (CHWs).
