Annual Meeting of Partners in the ANRS-MIE International Network, held at ANRS headquarters in Paris: Review of 2023 and Outlook for 2024

The chair of the Strategic Steering Committee (CPS) of PAC-CI/PRISME-CI, Ms. Thérèse N’dri-Yoman, and Dr. Raoul Moh,Executive Director of PAC-CI/PRISME-CI, took part in the annual meeting of partners of the ANRS-MIE international network. The event was held at the ANRS-MIE headquarters in Paris on June 27 and 28, 2024.

It was an opportunity for participants from 11 partner countries (Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Mali, Guinea, DRC, Zambia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Brazil, and Senegal) to review the results of 2023 and discuss prospects for 2024. The Côte d’Ivoire site is proud to have presented one of the most productive reports for 2023, with:

• 38 ongoing research projects

• 30 training programs delivered (5 Master’s-2 theses defended, 1 public health dissertation defense, 18 doctoral degrees in science currently in progress, etc.)

• 48 scientific publications, including the results of one (the OptiMA-RDC clinical trial), which formed the basis for a revision of the WHO’s international recommendations on the management of acute malnutrition.

• 200 policy briefs distributed

  In terms of outlook for 2024, the PAC-CI Program’s priority research areas will focus on:

  Management strategies for people living with HIV (long-acting drugs, aging, primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases)

  • Maternal and child health (strategies to reduce maternal and infant mortality in decentralized settings in Côte d’Ivoire)

  • Air pollution and its impact on children’s respiratory health

  • The program was also enriched by a discussion on the “decolonization of research.”

  • Participants parted ways very satisfied with this second meeting. The next network meeting has been scheduled for June 2025. In the meantime, the Côte d’Ivoire site will organize its next scientific conference at the end of the first quarter of 2025.
