As part of the response to food insecurity, the faculty members of the Food Systems and Food Security working group of the IPORA consortium in Côte d’Ivoire met in Abidjan from January 29 to 31, 2025 to identify research projects that could guide decision-making in nutrition.
The IPORA consortium, or Interdisciplinary Policy-Oriented Research on Africa, is, according to Dr. Gérard Menan, Deputy Coordinator of IPORA Côte d’Ivoire, a real opportunity for Côte d’Ivoire, as it brings together multiple skills to address specific issues related to population well-being, particularly food security.
Three themes have been identified for research projects:
- Supplying cities with safe foods
- Security dynamics in cocoa-growing communities in Côte d’Ivoire
- Maternal mental health in relation to child nutrition
The work of this meeting led to the development of tools for supplying communities with nutritious foods to improve existing food security policies.
